Greenidge sworn in as acting President; Ramjattan as PM

Vice President and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Carl Greenidge was earlier today sworn in to perform the duties of President by Chancellor (ag) of the Judiciary, Justice Yonette Cummings Edwards.

According to a statement by the Foreign Affairs Ministry, in executing his duties as President, Greenidge then swore in Vice President and Minister of Public Security, Khemraj Ramjattan to perform the duties of Prime Minister.

President David Granger is said to be on his way to India to attend International Solar Alliance Summit, slated to commence on March 11, while Prime Minister Moses Nagamootoo is recovering from a heart surgery.

No official announcement was made by the Ministry of the Presidency about Mr Granger’s departure.
