Belle West pensioner found dead with stab wound to throat

Days after her 68^th birthday, a Belle West, West Bank Demerara woman was early today found murdered in her home.

Dead is Ursilla Paderat. She was found in an upright position in a chair in her living room with a stab wound to her throat.

The discovery was made by a man whom she had contracted to construct a septic tank in her yard.

When News Room visited the scene, Naresh Singh, a nephew, related that the woman’s purse containing her cell phone, documents and $123,000, is missing. The money was sent by Paderat’s overseas-based grandson to build the septic tank.

Naresh’s mother, Chandroutie Singh, tried to contain tears as she mourns the death of her only sister. The woman told News Room that Paderat took care of her from the time she was 11-month- old as their mother had passed away.

Paderat lived alone.
