Police destroy Marijuana fields in Berbice River, shotguns found

The Guyana Police Force ‘B’ Division on Wednesday conducted and a drug eradication exercise at Ebini, Berbice River where a total of six fields of cultivated cannabis estimating thirty acres were destroyed.

During the operation 600,000 plants ranging from four to five feet and weighing approximately 300,000 kg and 200,000 kg of processed cannabis were found and destroyed.

Further, two shotguns were also discovered along with several cartridges.

Police sources indicated the shotguns – a Stevens 16 gauge single barrel and a Stevens 20 gauge double barrel – along with forty 12 gauge and fifteen 16 gauge cartridges were found.

 

No arrest has been made thus far.
