Six employees from the Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI) disconnection crew were forced to flee on Thursday after they were attacked and the company’s bus was set alight.

The News Room learnt that the incident occurred at Buxton, East Coast Demerara, minutes after the crew disconnected the water connection to a resident’s yard.

Reports are that following the disconnection, a neighbour exited the yard and doused the minibus with what appeared to be gasoline before setting it alight.

The minibus was contracted from a private individual.
