North West teen stabbed to death during drinking bout

A 22-year-old man is in Police custody for the murder of a teenager at Kariako Creek in the Braima River, North West District.

Dead is 18-year-old Lawrence Leon.

Police said Leon was allegedly murdered between 06:00hrs on Wednesday and 13:30hrs on Thursday.

According to reports received, Leon was imbibing “local wine” with the suspect, Eon Charles, and his reputed wife when at about 06:00hrs on Wednesday an argument started.

The argument resulted in Charles stabbing Leon to his left hand with a knife and in retaliation, Charles armed himself with an object and stabbed Leon to his left upper back.

Both of the men were rushed to the Barima Health Center where they were treated and subsequently escorted to the Mabaruma Hospital where the Charles was examined and discharged. However, Leon was admitted a patient and died while receiving treatment.

Charles was later arrested and is police custody as the investigation continues.
