Two men have been taken into custody at Weldaad Village, West Coast of Berbice after they were found to be in the possession of a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be marijuana.
News Room was told that acting on information received, the police visited a street in the village of Weldaad at about 23:30hrs on Wednesday where two men were observed walking with two black bulky bags.
Upon noticing the police, it is alleged that the men threw the parcels into a nearby trench.
The police arrested the men, ages 22 and 23, and retrieved the bags in which a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis were found.
The suspects were escorted to Weldaad Police station along with the parcels which have not yet been weighed.
News Room understands that two other men, who are alleged to be the “lookout”, were also arrested and vehicles impounded.
