Tyrell, Murphy grab Guyana’s first medals at Carifta

Shaquka Tyrell on her debut at the Carifta Games grabbed Guyana’s first medal on Saturday in the Bahamas.

Tyrell finished third for the bronze medal in the girl’s under-17, 1500 metres with a brilliant run to finish in a time of 4:55.97s.

Kissanna Glen finished ninth with a time of 5:12.43s while Rushana Dwyer of Jamaica won the gold with a time of 4:47.90s.

Meanwhile, Murphy Nash won bronze as well in the boy’s under-17, 1500 metres with a time of 4:13.59s.

His teammate, Cordell Charles finished eighth with a time of 4:29.35s. The event was won by J’Voughnn Blake of Jamaica who ran 4:08.73s for the gold.
