Williams makes it to 400m final by a whisker
World Youth Silver medallist, 18-year-old Daniel Williams was a hair away from not making the final of the boy’s under-20 400m final at the ongoing Carifta Games being held in The Bahamas.
Competing today, the talented quarter miler Guyanese finished fourth in heat three of the event with a time of 48.18s.
Williams’ time was the slowest qualifying time with Jonathan Jones of Barbados winning the heat in 47.46s.
While the time of Williams might suggest a bit of a struggle for the top athlete, it is known that he is a big games performer; a testament to his success at the World Youth Championships last year where he qualified for the final because an athlete was disqualified for a lane infringement. The rest is history.
Nevertheless, Williams will have the opportunity to add more medals to his cabinet later today when he contests the final.
