Police are investigating the alleged robbery/murder of 55-year-old Pedro Pablo Rosario, a miner of Dominican Republic, which occurred at a mining camp in Black Water Backdam, Cuyuni River, by three armed men about 02:00hrs Friday morning.
According to a police report, investigations revealed that the man was relaxing in a hammock at the watch camp, about 30 feet from the dredge when one of the suspects pounced and discharged a round, hitting him.
The three suspects then proceeded to the dredge, held the other employees at gunpoint and removed two mats from the sluice box and escaped.
