Taxi Driver accused of sexual grooming of teen

A 31-year-old taxi driver appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan today, charged with sexually grooming his 15-year-old female relative.
Daniel James pleaded not guilty to the charge and was released on $200,000 bail.
The Court heard that he communicated with the teenager on at least two occasions via WhatsApp on December 12, 2017, and January 18, 2018, with intentions to engage in sexual activity.
According to reports, James allegedly knew that the child was underage and still communicated with her. It is further alleged that on January 18, James made arrangements to have sex with the teen but the police intervened and arrested James after being tipped off.
He is scheduled to re-appear in Court on April 16, 2018.
