Guyanese Leslain Baird was unsuccessful in making it to the final of the Men’s Javelin, failing to get out of the Qualifying Round on Friday at the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia.
Baird, the national record-holder with a throw of 74.78 metres, recorded 74.27 metres to finish seventh in Group B. The qualifying mark was 78.00 metres.
Meanwhile, Guyanese athletes will be on show tomorrow (April 14) at the Games. Troy Doris will compete in the Men’s Triple Jump Final, Natrena Hooper will battle in the Women’s High Jump Final, and rifle shooters Lennox Brathwaite and Ronsford Goodluck will aim at 900 and 1,000 yards on the final day of the Queen’s Prize Individual competition.
