18 months jail for escaping police custody

A 27-year-old West Ruimveldt, Georgetown Plumber was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment today by Magistrate Judy Latchman for escaping from police custody.

Adrian Walters admitted that on April 11, 2018, at the Prashad Nagar Police Outpost, he escaped from police custody pending the charge of break and enter with larceny.

According to a police report on the day in question, Walters was in custody at the Prashad Nagar Police Outpost when he requested to use the restroom.

While in the process of being escorted to the restroom, Walters pushed down the police officer and made good his escape through a door.

Acting on information received, police ranks went into the East Ruimveldt area and arrested Walters.

Magistrate Latchman took into consideration Walters’ early guilty plea and the need to prohibit others from similar crimes before imposing her sentence.
