Indian batsmen Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli struck 90s, but it was Sharma who was the happier man as Mumbai Indians crushed Royal Challengers Bangalore by 46 runs in the IPL on Tuesday.

Sharma topscored with 94 off 52 balls (10x4s, 5x6s) and Evin Lewis scored 65 off 42 (6x4s, 5x6s) as Mumbai Indians posted 213-6, a total that was enough to secure their first win after four games this season.

Umesh Yadav, who dismissed Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan off the first two balls of the match, ended with 2-36, while Corey Anderson had 2-47.

Virat Kohli played a lone hand for RCB, ending on 92

RCB’s innings never really got momentum, as wickets fell regularly. Kohli batted through the innings, ending on 92 not out off 62 balls (7x4s, 4x6s), as his side lost for third time in four games this season, ending on 167-8.

No other batsman got past Quinton de Kock’s 19, as Krunal Pandya took 3-28 and Jasprith Bumrah and Mitch McClenaghan two wickets each.

IPL action continues tomorrow (Wednesday) with Kolkata Knight Riders playing Rajasthan Royals from 10:30h.
