DRAG RACE: King of the Strip 2 set for Sunday
It will be a battle of the fastest on Sunday when King of the Strip Drag Race Meet 2 is staged at South Dakota Circuit. The event will take on an international flavour with overseas competitors set to grace the circuit.
Ever since the Rameez Mohamed-led executive took office in early 2017 they have been putting systems in place to have more events so that local competitors can showcase their cars and bikes, and of course their competitiveness.
One such event is billed for this Sunday, the King of the Strip Drag Race Meet 2, set to start at 09:00h.
Local competitors will be eager to defend home turf against an enthusiastic and confident bunch of foreigners who would no doubt want to leave Guyana with the silverware.
While local competitors have been busy over the past weeks getting their machines in peak condition, the overseas competitors from Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago have started arriving and will to maximise on the remaining days ahead of the event.
Officials are anticipating another competitive day of racing, and of course they are hoping that the weather would be favourable and not play spoilsport like the last event where it rained all day.
Of course competitors will be keeping an eye on the points table, with the aim of copping the prestigious champion driver and champion rider award at the end of the season.
The organisers are urging patrons to come out and witness a solid day of racing as Guyana comes up against rivalry from Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago.
The event, organised by the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club, is sponsored by Tropical Shipping, Mohamed’s Enterprise, Stag Beer and Japarts.
Admission is $1,000 for adults and $500 per child.
