Kobras, Ravens join Colts in final four of Road to Mecca

Kobras and Ravens are sure of a spot in the semi-final of the Road to Mecca National Club Basketball Championship, set for Sunday at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall. Both teams secured group wins on Wednesday evening that essentially secured their passage to the final four.

Kobras became the second team to clinch a semi-final berth with a 70-60 win over Amelia’s Ward Jets.

Kobras used a massive third quarter to blow open the game and never lost the lead from mid-way in the third.

Trevor Smith scored 13 points in the win, while Travis Burnett chipped in with 12. Joel Webster dropped a game-high 15 points in the loss.

Meanwhile, Ravens struggled but got a critical 52-51 win against Retrieve Raiders that has essentially assured the club a berth in the semi-final with one game in hand.

It was a tough game for both sides from the field as they both struggled with their field goal percentage. However, Ravens hit clutch shots in the closing minutes and held on for the win. Dominic Vincente dropped 19 points in the all-important game.

The Guardians also got a 90-80 win against the Half Miles Bulls to end the night’s action in the tournament.

Akeem Crandon scored 24 points in the win, while Malcolm Powdar and Marlon Chesney chipped in with 16 and 14 points respectively. Terron Welch had a game-high 25 points in the loss.

The tournament will continue with more group action on Friday, while the semi-final has been set for Sunday at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
