IPL: Watson’s hundred flattens Rajasthan Royals
Australian all-rounder Shane Watson rolled back the years, scoring his third IPL hundred to lead Chennai Super Kings to a comprehensive 64-run win over Rajasthan Royals in Pune on Friday.
Watson’s 57-ball 106, which included six sixes, was the base of Super Kings’ 204-5 as he batted deep into the innings, being dismissed off the penultimate ball.
Suresh Raina cracked 46 off 29 and Dwayne Bravo made 24 off 16, as Shreyas Gopal took 3-20. Rajasthan lost three wickets in the Powerplay and never really threatened thereafter, being dismissed for 140, halfway through the 19th over.
Ben Stokes made 45 off 37, as Bravo, Karn Sharma, Deepak Chahar and Shardul Thakur all picked up two wickets each.
