A draw against the Select Under-17s was enough to hand Berbice the Hand-In-Hand Mutual Fire and Life Insurance Companies Inter-county Under-19 Three-day title on Friday.
Playing at the Everest ground, the game did not produce a result as the Under-17s batted diligently in their second innings after being set a huge target.
Faced with the huge task of scoring 361 for an outright victory on the final day, the Under-17s closed on 123-3 off 54 overs. Final scores in the match: Berbice 176 and 295-8 declared; Under-17s 111 and 123-3.
Sachin Singh was unbeaten on 68 for the Under-17s, while national Under-batsman Mavendra Dindyal supported with 32 and Seon Glasgow 17.
Earlier, Berbice innings was built around a brilliant unbeaten 120 from Man-of-the-Match Kevlon Anderson.
The 50-over version of the competition will begin on Sunday (April 22) with Essequibo opposing Demerara at the GCC ground, Bourda, and the Select Under-17s competing with Berbice at the Tuschen ground on the East Bank of Essequibo.
Both matches will commence at 09:30h.
