Police are investigating a fatal accident which occurred about 19:30hrs on Friday on Dennis Street, Sophia, which resulted in the death of pedal cyclist Mohan Ramkellawan, 72, years, of South Cummings Lodge, East Coast Demerara.
According to a police report, motorcar, HC 7724 and the pedal cyclist were proceeding west along Dennis Street, when it is alleged that the elderly man rode into the path of the car.
Ramkellawan was taken to Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The driver, who is a 52-year-old resident of Sophia, is in custody assisting in the investigation.
