    More criminal charges filed against Gov’t Ministers

    Former Attorney General, Anil Nandlall this morning filed private criminal charges against Minister of Finance, Winston Jordan; Minister of Public Infrastructure, David Patterson and Minister of Public Service, Dr Rupert Roopnaraine, alleging misconduct in public office.

    The charges against Jordan and Patterson alleged breach of the Procurement Act, in relation to the expenditure of $906M in public funds to a private company for the construction of the controversial Durban Park Project.

    The charge against Dr Roopnaraine alleged that he accepted public money in violation of the Procurement Act, following reports that he sat as a Director on the Board of the company that was responsible for developing the Durban Park Project.

    Nandlall appeared before Cheif Magistrate Ann McLennan where the Magistrate ordered that the Government Ministers should appear at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court on April 30, 2018, to answer to the charges.

    Last week, Nandlall also filed charges against current and former Minister of Health, Volda Lawrence and Dr George Norton.
