As the police investigation continues into the disappearance of 37-year-old Shawnette Savory who went missing two years ago, her ex-boyfriend today appeared before Chief Magistrate, Ann McLennan, charged with the murder.
Devindra Ramdial called “Duck-man,” 34, of Prospect, East Bank Demerara was not required to plea to the capital offence, which alleged that on August 30, 2016, at Soesdyke, E.B.D he murdered Savory.
He was remanded to prison until May 24.
In 2017, the police reopened the case after new information surfaced that Savory was killed by Ramdial, her ex-lover.
News Room was informed that earlier this week, investigators took Ramdial into custody as they dug his yard looking for the woman’s remains.
A senior police officer told News Room that Ramdial confessed to killing the woman and burying her body in the Soesdyke area.
Savory went missing from her Prospect, E.B.D home after she left to purchase credit for her prepaid meter. Numerous attempts were made to contact the woman but all failed. It was also discovered that she left without any personal belongings.
