Sunrisers Hyderabad bowlers turned in a total team effort, pipping Kings XI Punjab by 13 runs in a low-scoring affair in the IPL on Thursday.
Kings XI, in pursuit of 133, seemed on course after an opening stand of 55 between Chris Gayle and KL Rahul, but stumbled badly, being dismissed for 119 in the final over.
Rahul (32 off 26) and Gayle (23 off 22) were the only batsmen who really got going, as seven players fell for single figure scores.
Spinners Rashid Khan took three wickets and Shakib Al Hasan two for Sunrisers, whose total was built around Manish Pandey’s 54 off 51 balls.
Shakib made 28 and Yusuf Pathan 21 not out, as Ankit Rajpoot took career-best figures of 5-14, including the top three batsmen in the Powerplay.
Tomorrow, it’s Delhi Daredevils against Kolkata Knight Riders from 10:30h.
