Youths arrested after robbing businessman
Police Thursday evening arrested two persons on the East Coast of Demerara (ECD) after they crashed their getaway vehicle following a robbery they allegedly committed on a businessman.
The suspects, ages 17 and 20, were found with a 9mm glock pistol with magazine and three live rounds at Vryheids Lust, Railway Embankment.
According to a police statement, the perpetrators robbed the businessman of $100,000 and a quantity of jewellery.
They then attempted to make their good escape on a motorcycle but subsequently crashed. Police said the young men, who sustained injuries, were then arrested.
