29-Y-O shot dead at Better Hope
A 29-year-old man was Saturday night shot dead at his Better Hope, East Coast Demerara (ECD) home.
The dead man has been identified as Denis Nandlall.
Police Commander Edmond Cooper told News Room that Nandlall was in his yard drinking with several persons when a man approached on foot around 11:00hrs and inquired about the whereabouts of a specific individual.
Commander Cooper said initial investigations revealed that Nandlall informed the man that the person was not at home and turned away when he was shot.
“When he turned around, a loud explosion was heard and he [Nandlall] fell to the ground,” Commander Cooper told News Room.
The Police Commander said Nandlall was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he underwent surgery but he succumbed to his injuries during the operation.
The Commander said there are no suspects at this stage but the police are working with the little information they received from the witnesses.
He added that there was no sign of a robbery.
