Baksh re-elected to lead Blairmont Centre CC

The Blairmont Centre Cricket Club recently hosted its Annual General Meeting in the Roy Frederick Pavillion of the Blairmont Estate Community Centre, West Coast Berbice.

Shabeer Baksh, a businessman, a former President of the Region Five Chamber of Industry and Commerce, former Chairman of the Board of Governors of Rosignol Secondary School and former Assistant Treasurer of the Berbice Cricket Board, returned unopposed as President of the club.

Mohamed Razack, the Assistant Field Manager of Blairmont Estate, was elected Vice-President. Razack has served over 15 years in other non-profit organisations. Vejai Farhad was returned as Treasurer unopposed and Omesh Prashad will serve as his assistant.

Retired Head Mistress Zolika Ishahack, with 35 years experience in education, and having served in various capacities in women and children organisations and the church, was elected as Secretary.

Ameer Rahim will serve as her assistant. Other council members elected were Anil Sukra, Shizad ‘Greens Massive’ Ali, Jerry Karim, Radesha Persaud, Tony Tageram, Mark Singh and Selena Sipchand.

President Baksh said he is enthusiastic about the future and is looking forward to working with the new elected executives for a bright and better 2018-2019 period.

He welcomed the female executives, noting that since the resuscitation of the club in 2010 this is the first time that females will serve on the council.

“One of my personal goals is to make Blairmont Centre Cricket Club the best in Guyana,” Baksh related.

The executive and council will meet on May 3 at the same venue to form various committees and plan the working year 2018-2019.
