A 19-year-old Grove East Bank Demerara resident on Monday appeared before Chief Magistrate, Ann McLennan, charged with attempted murder.

Calvin George was not required to plea to the indictable charge, which alleged that on April 11 at Kaneville, EBD he wounded Orwin Peters with intent to commit murder.

Police Prosecutor, Gordon Mansfield objected George being released on bail, noting that both men are known to each other.

The court heard that on the day in question, George and Peters were involved in a heated argument over the use of a toilet which was situated in the victim’s yard.

It is alleged that George became annoyed, pulled out a knife and stabbed Peters in his abdomen.

George was released on $200,000 bail and has to re-appear in court on May 18, 2018.
