Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Chennai Super Kings by six wickets in the IPL on Thursday. MS Dhoni’s 43 off 25 gave Chennai some impetus towards the end, as they posted 177-7.
Shane Watson scored 36 and Suresh Raina 31, as Puyish Chawla and Sunil Narine claimed two wickets each.
Narine then started the chase with 32 off 20, after Chris Lynn fell for 12 in the first over. Shubman Gill and Dinesh Kartik sealed the win with a partnership of 83 in six overs.
Gill made 57 not out (36 balls; 6x4s, 2x6s) and Karthik 45 not out (18 balls; 7x4s, 1×6). With the win, KKR moved into third with 10 points, behind Chennai Super Kings and leaders Sunrisers Hyderabad on 12 points apiece.
