The construction of the Lethem Fire Station in Region 9 is in its final stage of completion, the Ministry of Public Security has announced.
The construction of the 60X70 feet structure commenced in April 2017 and will also house an emergency ambulance.
A release from the ministry noted that works are also ongoing for Fire Stations at Mahdia, Region 8 and Mabaruma, Region 1.
It was noted that 89% work for the first phase of Mabaruma Fire Station is completed, while 95% of the final phase for the Mahdia fire station is completed.
“Each Fire Station will greatly benefit residents of the hinterland communities as the Guyana Fire Service remains committed to the protection of life and property from destruction by fire, as well as attending to other disaster-related emergencies and rendering humanitarian services in collaboration with other agencies,” the Ministry of Public Security noted.
