India’s Gov’t Minister on State visit to Guyana

India’s Minister of State for Human Resources Development, Dr Satya Pal Singh is on a three-day visit to Guyana, beginning today, as part of the special “Outreach Programme” initiated by the Government of India to meet with leaders and the Indian Diaspora.

The announcement was made by the Indian High Commission today in a statement, which revealed that Dr Singh, who also has responsibility for Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, will be accompanied by his wife, Mrs Alka Singh.

According to the Indian High Commission, during his visit, Minister Singh is scheduled to meet with President David Granger; Prime Minister, Moses Nagamootoo; Minister of Public Security, Khemraj Ramjattan; Minister of Natural Resources, Raphael Trotman; Minister of Public Infrastructure, David Patterson and Minister of State, Joseph Harmon.

The High Commission further noted that Dr Singh will also meet with Guyana’s Opposition Leader and former President, Dr Bharrat Jagdeo.

 

“During the meetings, various issues of interest regarding bilateral and multilateral will be discussed. He is also scheduled to interact with the Indian diaspora including Indian expatriates in Guyana at a reception hosted in honour of the visiting Minister,” the High Commission stated.
