Despite a power outage, the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) retained their title at the Andrew ‘Six Head’ Lewis Novices championship that concluded last weekend at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue.

The Youth Bantamweight division final had some top class action.

Isaiah Moore from Forgotten Youth Foundation looked crisp against Junior Hyman who was adept at counter punching, but his lack of consistency in hitting his target allowed Moore to gain the judge’s decision after the three rounds of boxing.

The Elite Bantamweight final was one of the better fights of the night with Kevin Isaacs wailing in on Horace Ceres.

Ceres was energetic to start the bout, but the second round proved his undoing as Isaacs mercilessly battered his opponent for a TKO win.

The Light Heavyweight Final saw Alex Murray hammering Angel Anys with a first round TKO, 1:36s into the fight.

It was simply brute force and power by Murray who landed a number of shot to the head of Anys, who simply could not defend himself.

In the other fights, Troy Miggins defeated fellow GDF Jevon Gomes in the Lightweight contest, Orlando Grenville got a points decision against Jeremiah Jackman in an all GDF Junior Welterweight affair, GDF’s Astion Niles’s straight right stopped REP’s Thadius Perry in 1:47 seconds in the first round of their Light Heavyweight clash, GDF’s Osbert Robinson forced his Gym mate Joram Fraser to throw in the towel at the end of the first round and  Andrew Griffith defeated Jamal LaRose on points in an all GDF bout.
