Sugar worker killed in Berbice accident

A Sugar Worker of Sand Reef, Albion, Corentyne, was on Tuesday evening killed in an accident on the Public Road, Corentyne, Berbice.

According to the Guyana Police Force, Lalta Jagmohan, 30, allegedly rode in front of motorcar PRR 9091, which was proceeding in the same direction on the Nigg public road.

The motorcar was being driven by an 18-years-old resident of Fryish, Corentyne.

The police said Jagmohan was picked up in an unconscious state and rushed to the Port Mourant Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

A post-mortem done on Wednesday listed his cause of death as a fractured skull and brain haemorrhage.

The incident occurred at about 19:10hrs.

The driver, who passed a breathalyzer test, is in custody assisting with the investigation.
