6-Y-O succumbs after Linden/Soesdyke Highway accident

A six-year-old girl has succumbed to injuries she sustained following a two-vehicle collision on the Linden/Soesdyke Highway on Sunday afternoon.

Arianna Hughes was among thirteen children who were involved in the tragic accident which left at least eight persons hopsitalised.

The young girl had suffered internal and head injuries but she succumbed Monday morning at the Georgetown Public Hospital.

The hospital had mistakenly identified her sister, Jada Enmore, as the one who died, but later corrected the error. Hughes’ brother, Jayden and mother, Shennelle Hughes are still hospitalized following the accident.

According to police, the driver of the motorcar, PMM 548 was heading east and lost control of the car and crashed into minibus BHH 8451 which was travelling west.

The driver of the motorcar has been identified as 31-year-old Shennelle Hughes while the bus driver is 49-year-old Rawle McKenzie. They both sustained injuries.

Those with serious injuries were transferred to the Georgetown Hospital where they remain hospitalised.
