The Wadpna ground in Lethem will be a hive of activity this evening when semi-final action in the Rupununi Football Association (RFA) Champions League 2018 is contested from 18:00h.

Secretary of the RFA, Troy Benjamin, told News Room that this evening will see a male and female semi-final game, while the action will continue tomorrow (Friday, May 18) with a similar format.

Tonight’s first semi-final will bring together Gladiators and Flash in the female segment, while Paiwomak Warriors will face Strikers in the male semi-final from 20:00h.

Tomorrow, Saints will take on Paiwomak from 18:00h in the next female semi-final game, while two hours later, Tabatinga and Snatchers will square off in the other male semi-final.

The winners of these games will advance to Saturday’s final, while the losers will clash in the third place playoff.

Meanwhile, Imon Wireless Connections this week presented the third place cash prizes and trophies for both the male and female categories.

Benjamin was on hand to receive the sponsorship from Erwin Thompson of Imon Wireless Connections, who expressed his company’s delight at being part of the activity.

Benjamin stated that the RFA was happy to have Imon Wireless Connections onboard, and is encouraging fans to come out and support the players as they do battle in the back-end of the tournament.
