Continental Group of Companies, under Torginol Paints Inc., on Friday provided monetary support to the Guyana National Rifle Association, which is sending a complete team to the West Indies Fullbore Shooting Championship in Barbados from May 20-26.

The presentation of a cheque for an undisclosed amount was made to coach of the team, Paul Slowe, by Office Manager of Continental Group of Companies, Ravi Brijnandan, at the establishment’s location at Industrial Estate, Georgetown.

Slowe expressed gratitude to the company, noting that the rifle-men are appreciative of such tangible expressions of support from corporate Guyana. On Thursday, the shooters also received sponsorship from E-Networks.

In brief remarks, Brijnandan said, “Torginol Paints Inc., a member of the Continental Group of Companies, has always been supportive of the Guyana National Rifle Association and sports overall.  This time around are very happy to contribute to the team’s participation in the West Indies Fullbore Shooting Championship, 2018.  We would like to wish the Guyana team best of luck in the competition.”

Guyana will definitely start as favourites, as the riflemen are the defending champions of both the Long Range and Short Range titles, while Lennox Brathwaite is the reigning Individual champion.

The team to Barbados is led by Dylan Fields, with Dane Blair being the Vice-captain. Brathwaite apart, the other members are Ransford Goodluck, Leo Ramalho, Sherwin Felicien, Peter Persaud, Terry Stuart, Sigmund Douglas and John Fraser.

According to Slowe, the team has been practicing over the last two weeks, and all the shooters are confident Guyana can defend both titles.
