Kitty house destroyed by fire

Several persons are homeless after a fire on Sunday afternoon destroyed a two-storey concrete house at  Lot 228 D’Andrade Street, Newtown, Kitty, Georgetown.

News Room was told that the fire was allegedly started around 16:00hrs by a child who was reportedly playing with matches in the upper flat of the building.

Reports indicate that the child was at home with two adults but no one was injured.

According to an eyewitness, the fire service arrived at the scene minutes after the fire started but could not save anything since the building was already engulfed in flames.

Firefighters were lauded for saving two nearby houses.
