Young farmer pinned to death in tractor accident

A 20-year-old man died on Monday morning after the tractor he was driving toppled and pinned him underneath at Philipe Backdam.

Dead is Alvin Dubaria called ‘Tiger Dog’ of Kilmanock, Village Corentyne Berbice.

His sister, Lata Hansraj told News Room she received a telephone call with the dreadful news at around 10:00hrs.

“I didn’t want to believe, I started to cry. He left to go to work to prepare the rice fields and as usual, we expect him back home. When I got that call it was devastating,” Hansraj said.

The young man’s employer, Hera Nauth explained what happened.

“I was driving the other tractor. I left he working the fields and come by the camp to fix something on my tractor. After a while, I didn’t see him so me and another employee went to check…that’s when we see the tractor toppled and he pin at the bottom.”

Nauth said when they arrived, the young man appeared lifeless and they contacted the police and relatives.

According to Nauth, it took three tractors and approximately an hour to remove the ill-fated tractor and the young man’s body.

The police visited the scene and the body was taken to the Port Mourant Hospital Mortuary.

Dubaria was described as a hard worker who cared for his family. He leaves to mourn his three siblings.
