Miner ‘Old Fire’ charged with sexual assault of teen

A 42-year-old miner from a village in the North West District was on Wednesday arraigned before Acting Chief Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus for sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl.

Faron Hercules called “Faro” and “Old Fire” was not required to plea to the charge.

The charge against Hercules read that on June 2, 2018, he engaged in sucking the child’s breast and neck knowing fully well that she is underage.

According to reports, the child was alone at home with Hercules when it is alleged that he entered her room, pinned her down to the bed and committed the act.

When the child’s mother returned home, the teen told her what occurred. The mother reported the matter to the police and Hercules was arrested.

Hercules was placed on $250,000 bail was ordered by the Magistrate to keep away from the victim. The matter is adjourned until June 15.
