A 10-year-old boy who witnessed his father beating and stabbing his mother and sister at their Glasgow Housing Scheme, East Bank Berbice home this morning, ran to his grandmother’s house and begged her to save them.
Dead are 37-year-old Bindamattie Behari known as Cameel and her 21-year-old daughter, Aneila Khan.
The suspect, Jainarine Seetaram known as ‘Rado’ managed to escape from residents into the cane fields but police subsequently found his body hanging from a post in an abandoned house not far from where he lived.
Behari was lying in the hammock on the bottom flat of the house when the man attacked her with the hammer and then slit her throat. He then turned his attention to his young daughter and beat her in the head with the hammer before stabbing her repeatedly.
She was rushed to the New Amsterdam Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
The couple’s 10-year-old son ran to the house of his grandmother, Omawattie Behari and in tears, he told her what happened.
“He run by me and he say ‘grandmother, run go quick and save mommy. Daddy ah beat mommy and meh sister…he get wan hammer’…” an inconsolable Behari told reporters.
Mrs Behari described the couple as quiet and loving and said it was only yesterday they visited her and appeared to be happy.
