    Kieran Powell followed up his first innings 38 with a fluent 64 not out

    Windies extended their lead to 360 by stumps on day three of the first Test against Sri Lanka at Queen’s Park Oval, Trinidad.

    Number three batsman Kieran Powell’s unbeaten 64, his fifth Test match fifty, took West Indies to 131-4 after they gained a 229-run lead on first innings. Powell has so far faced 80 balls in his fluent knock, counting six fours and two sixes.

    He will resume Saturday with eyes on a fourth Test hundred. With him is first innings centurion Shane Dowrich on 11.

    Openers Kraigg Brathwaite and Devon Smith made 16 and 20 respectively, while Shai Hope was dismissed for one and Roston Chase 12. Lahiru Kumara has 2-28.

    Earlier, Miguel Cummins took 3-39 and Shannon Gabriel and Kemar Roach 2-48 and 2-34 respectively as Sri Lanka, resuming on 31-3, were bowled out for 185 in response to Windies 414-8 declared.

    Skipper Dinesh Chandimal topscored with 44.
