Guyana Defence Force (GDF) ruggers were crowned champions of the Bounty Farms 15s tournament after Yamaha Caribs were late for their clash in the final match of the 2017 season on Saturday ( June 9) at the National Park.

It essential meant Panthers, who were hoping for Caribs to pull off a stunning upset victory, for them to take poll position in the Guyana Rugby Football Union (GRFU) organised event, had to settle for being the second best.

After eight matches, GDF ended on 36 points with seven victories, while Panthers had 33 points with six wins. Police Falcons (14 points), Pepsi Hornets (11) and Caribs (six) rounded off the table.

The 2018 season will scrum-off from 16:00h on Sunday (June 10) with Hornets playing Panthers.
