7% decrease in serious crimes; 55 illegal firearms seized
The Guyana Police Force has recorded a 7% decrease in serious crimes at the end of May 2018 relative to the same period last year.
Statistics released by the Force on Monday revealed that there was a 23% decrease in murder; an 8% increase in robberies where no instruments were used; a 7% increase in robbery underarms where firearms were used; a 28% decrease in robbery underarms where instruments other than firearm were used; a 15% decrease in robbery with violence; a 33% decrease in robbery with aggravation; 34% decrease in larceny from the person; a 4% increase in rape; a 3% increase in burglary and a 4% decrease in break and enter and larceny.

Fifty-five illegal firearms have been taken off the streets so far this year, compared to sixty-four (64) for the corresponding period last year.
