Bandit caught after shooting victim, police hunt accomplice

Quick action by the police led to the capture of a bandit who had moments before shot a businessman and robbed him at lot 17 Broad and Lombard Streets, Charlestown.

A police statement noted that Wash Bay Operator, 38-year-old Leroy Robinson was inside the wash bay with his reputed wife, when they were attacked by two males, one of whom was armed with a handgun.

The incident occurred at approximately 21:30hrs on Sunday.

The unarmed suspect relieved the victim of his Blu cellular phone and a small sum of cash while his accomplice stood guard.

Police said although no resistance was made, the armed suspect shot the victim once in his left knee before escaping.

The police were alerted and prompt action by a rank on a motorcycle patrol resulted in the capture of the armed suspect, a short distance from the scene.

A .38 Revolver with a spent shell was found in his possession. Efforts are being made to have the other suspect apprehended.

The victim, who is receiving medical attention at a Government Medical Institution is said to be in a stable condition.
