A 23-year-old Real Estate Agent, who allegedly swindled $100,000 from a woman in a house lot scam, appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
Basdeo Persaud denied that on April 10, 2018, he obtained $100,000 from Annarada Persaud by falsely pretending that he was in a position to obtain a plot of land, knowing same to be false.
Police Prosecutor, Arwin Moore disclosed to the court that the victim visited Persaud’s Real Estate office where she made a down payment of $100,000 to buy the land and an additional $350,000.
When she started construction on the land, the victim was informed that the land is not for sale.
The accused was released on $100,000 bail and the case was adjourned to June 25, 2018.
