Cosmetologist busted with ganja at Ogle Airport

A 22-year-old Cosmetologist of West Ruimveldt, Georgetown was remanded to prison today on a drug trafficking charge.

Shareesa Tappin known as “Shero” appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court and denied that on June 6, 2018, at Eugene F. Correia International Airport, Ogle, East Coast Demerara she had 9.660 grams of cannabis in her possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Police Prosecutor, Gordon Mansfield objected to bail.

The Prosecutor told the court that on the day in question, Tappin was an outgoing passenger on a LIAT flight destined for Grenada.

While her suitcase was being searched by security, the cannabis was found between her personal items and clothing.

The Chief Magistrate remanded the unrepresented woman to prison and transferred the case to the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court for June 19.
