A 17-year-old Charlestown resident was remanded to prison Thursday by Chief Magistrate, Ann McLennan on two gun-related charges.

Colin Denny of Charles and Howes Street, Charlestown denied the charges of possession of a gun and ammunition without being a licensed firearm holder.

The charges alleged that on June 13 at Howes Street, Denny had an unlicensed .32 pistol in his possession along with one live round of .32 ammunition.

His lawyer, Keisha Chase in her bail application informed the court that Denny had no knowledge and control of the firearm.

Police Prosecutor, Gordon Mansfield, however, told the court that on the day in question, police on mobile patrol conducted a search on Denny’s person and found the weapon and ammo in his possession.

Bail was denied and he was remanded to prison until July 4.
