Shannon Gabriel’s third five-wicket haul put Windies in control of the second Test against Sri Lanka, despite a fighting, unbeaten hundred from skipper Dinesh Chandimal in St. Lucia.

Playing in his 34th Test, Gabriel took 5-59 off 16 overs, as Sri Lanka, deciding to bat after winning the toss, were bowled out for 253 late in the final session.

Kemar Roach supported with 4-49 off 18, as Kusal Mendis made 45 and Kusal Perera 32.

Chandimal’s hundred was his 11th in Tests, second in the West Indies and third as Sri Lanka captain. His 119 not out spanned 186 balls and included 10 fours and six.

Windies, up 1-0 in the three-match series after a 226-run win in the first Test in Trinidad, closed the opening day on 2-0.
