Tucville businessman robbed at gunpoint

A 36-year-old businessman is counting his losses after he was held at gunpoint and robbed of over $200,000, his phones and other items at around 4:00hrs on Wednesday.

News Room understands that Steve Wharton was confronted by two suspects as he was closing a Superbet shop which he operates in Tucville, Georgetown.

According to the police, as Wharton closed his shop, he heard someone whispered after which he was confronted by the two suspects who held him at gunpoint and demanded that he hand over his valuables.

The businessman complied and the suspects made off with 279,000 cash, two cell phones valuing $55,000, one cordless phone valuing $12,000.
