Bandit caught after robbing Meten-Meer-Zorg businesswoman


A 38 year-old man was today apprehended by public spirited citizens and police after he robbed a businesswoman of an undisclosed sum of cash at her Meten-Meer-Zorg ,West Coast Demerara (WCD) business.

According to police, the man of Castello Housing Scheme, Georgetown entered the business premises at about 14:30hrs armed with a hand gun and robbed the woman.

The suspect attempted to escape on a bicycle but was pursued by the police ranks and other individuals who caught him a short distance away.

He was found with an unlicensed Special Revolver with four live rounds as well as some of the stolen money.

The police said ballistic tests will be conducted on the weapon to ascertain if it was used in the commission of other crimes.

The suspect will also be placed on an identification parade in connection with several armed robberies committed in the Division.
