    It continued to rain goals in the ExxonMobil Boys and Girls Schools Under-14 Football tournament, with a whopping 40 being scored on the second day at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue, on Saturday (June 16).

    Leading the charge was Friendship Secondary in their 4-3 win over Tucville Secondary. 

    Shane Harper (seventh), Jonas Isaacs (20th), Prince Forde (29th) and Stephan Harry (32nd) were on the mark for Tucville, while Odeyo Harris (second), Raheim Marks (33rd) and Garfield Caesar (34th) had initially brought the match level.

    Vergenogen also powered to a 3-1 win over North Ruimveldt Multilateral, with goals coming from Ray Lee (16th & 17th) and Kwasi Gill (35th). Akeem Pereira had given Multi the lead in the 12th minute.

    Another West Coast Demerara team got on the winners’ board with Uitvlugt Secondary edging Charlestown 2-1. The difference in the closely contested match came from Joshua Fraser (ninth) and Nicholas James (34th); Tyler Lyle scored for Charlestown in the 15th. 

    Dolphin hammered Queenstown Secondary 4-1 via a complete team performance as goals came from Ian Ward (13th), Ronaldo Forde (16th), Selwin Jones (27th) and Mickel Keith (32nd); Javon Worrell netted for Queenstown in the 23rd.

     The summarised results of the other matches saw South Ruimveldt winning via walkover against Bishops’ High; Marian Academy and Ann’s Grove drew 1-1; Carmel Secondary won 5-0 against School of the Nations; Tutorial High needled St George’s 1-0; Chase Academy hammered Brickdam 4-0 and Annandale Secondary topped Kingston Secondary 7-2.

     The tournament, which is co-sponsored by Pepsi, will see the 12-team girls segment kick-off on June 23 after two weeks of training by the Technical department of the Guyana Football Federation.
