Family and friends of 19-year-old Sasia Adams this morning gathered at the Sandy’s Funeral home in Georgetown, some to say their final goodbyes and others to join the funeral procession to the Pomeroon River where she will be laid to rest.

There are conflicting reports about what led to the death of the teen on the night of June 10. Her 21-year-old boyfriend of Diamond Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara remains in police custody six days after the incident, Police Commander Leslie James told News Room today.

This morning, one of the woman’s cousins said he received a telephone call at about 22:00hrs on Sunday where the person told him that Sasia was in an accident. He rushed to the hospital where he said she was in a conscious state but unable to move or speak.

Friends and colleagues who worked with the teen at the Princess Ramada Hotel, Providence described her as a beautiful person.

While it is reported that Adams jumped out of her boyfriend’s moving car on Lamaha Street, Georgetown, it is also alleged that she was pushed from the moving vehicle.

She was rushed to the hospital by her boyfriend on the night of the incident but succumbed two days after. A family member told News Room that the young man related two different stories about how Adams received her injuries.

A Post Mortem Examination (PME) revealed that she died from blunt trauma to the head.

There are also allegations that the young man might have hit Adams in the head, causing her to fall out of the vehicle.

News Room also understands that Adams was conscious when she was admitted to the hospital and told a doctor that she fell down.

The funeral for the teen will take place at her parents’ residence at Jacklow, Pomeroon River after which she will be taken to the Charity Church of Christ and finally laid to rest the Charity cemetery.
