A 32-year-old man was today sentenced to four years imprisonment and fined $30,000 for trafficking marijuana.

Kevin Clarke of Albouystown appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court where he admitted that on June 14, 2018, at Lot 135 King and Edwards Street, Albouystown, he had 184 grams of cannabis in his possession for the purpose of trafficking.

According to reports, police acted on information received and went to Clarke’s home where they found the drugs in a haversack which was hidden in a barrel filled with clothing.

The Court heard that Clarke was not at home at the time the drugs were found but later turned himself into the police.

Clarke did not have legal representation and told the court that he is unemployed and sold the drugs to maintain his family.
